In this booklet cover the theme of the film is instantly evident through the crowd scenes, the flag and the evocative use of blood dripping from the title. This flag, adopted by the Indian national congress in 1931, was an early version of India's national flag. The spinning wheel was a nationalist symbol which represented Gandhi's call to the masses to spin their own cotton in defiance of British imports.
