Large dining table with rectangular wooden top covered in cream linoleum. The base consists of a cast iron machine tool base, apparently the right-hand supporting leg from a medium-sized lathe, which forms a pedestal in the centre.

Object history
This table was designed by Ernö Goldfinger for a flat owned by Paul and Marjorie Abbatt, 49 Tavistock Square. Goldfinger designed the interiors and the furniture for the flat in 1936. The table stood in the dining room. Paul and Marjorie Abbatt were the owners of the toy manufacturer's Abbatt Toys. Goldfinger also designed a number of shop interiors for the Abbatt's, as well as children's furniture and toys.
Historical context
Goldfinger designed a near-identical version of this table for use in his own home at 2 Willow Road, Hampstead, London.
