"Prayer rug, Ladik".
"This is a good example of an Asia Minor prayer-rug of the 'Ladik' type which is not at present represented in the Museum Collection. It appears to date from the late 18th century and is very similar to a speciment (dated (=) 1797) illustrated in Mengebauer';s Handbook of Oriental Carpets, pl. III, opp. p.104. Rugs of this type are not common, and the price asked is very moderate. " C.E.C.T. to A.F.K.

"It is a far better example than any we have of the type, and it is seldom that one comes across a Ladik rug in regard to which there is such good evidence of 18th century origin... Iam convinced.... that we cannot do better than purches this example at the very reasonable price at which it is offered". A.K. to the Director.
