A rectangular piece of silk satin, originally red, now faded to cream colour, embroidered with two and three straw plait (whole straw stalks) of various thicknesses couched with linen thread to form design consisting of scrolls forming compartments, each of which encloses a floral device. Along the bottom a row of larger scrolled design, with Baroque vase motifs. The silk satin is backed with unbleached coarse linen. Triangular piece of embroidered straw has been added to each upper side, probably a later addition.
Several areas stained with candle wax. Possibly part of an image robe or altar frontal.
