The piece, described by David Peace as a 'flat dish', was commissioned by Libertys for their centenary exhibition held at the Museum in 1975. It was also shown in Liberty & Co. in 1976 in an exhibition at the shop of unique works, where it was described as an 'ashtray'. The blank shape was made by the Swedish glassworks, Orrefors. Engraved with the words 'parvum non parvae amicitiae pignus' (a small pledge of a great love)
