The subject is carved in high relief and represents a cow decorated with beaded circlets round her horns and neck and looped across her shoulders and rump. She is suckling her calf beneath the spreading canopy of a tree. To the right, the young Krishna with a lotus nimbus is about to strike the cow with his cowherd's flute. To the left, his half brother, Balarama, stands near a trough of fodder with a dish raised above the head.

Physical description
The subject is carved in high relief and represents a cow decorated with beaded circlets round her horns and neck and looped across her shoulders and rump. Historical significance: A group similar in subject-matter and style is in the Archaeological Museum at Mathura Nos. D.55, 830, 1035) and another piece is in the Patna Museum Arch No.5842.
