Premonstratensian canon, Jacobus Scheuen, with St Lambert

The standing figure in this glass panel is St Lambert. He was Bishop of Maestricht between 633 and 638 and died at Liège around 700. Here he is shown in the robes and mitre (hat) associated with his office. The circumstances surrounding his death are unknown but he was considered a martyr saint from early in the medieval period.

St Lambert worked with St Willibrord. He was an English saint but is better-known in Germany. They worked together converting local populations to Christianity and establishing churches.

The kneeling figure is Jacobus Scheuen. He was a member of the Order of Premonstratensian Canons established in 1120 by St Norbert.

Gerhard Remisch was a glasspainter, designer and head of a prolific workshop in the Rhineland in the early part of the period 1500-1600.
