This relief panel depicts the Buddha seated in a meditation posture beneath a tree festooned with garlands; angels hover above. He is surrounded by devotees, hands clasped together in veneration. The scene may be taken to represent the Buddha beneath the Bodhi tree at Bodhgaya, after he has attained Enlightenement. The soles of his feet display dharmacakra designs, auspicious marks emblematic of his teachings. Extensive damage to the surface has obliberated much detail, including all facial features.

Physical description
Black stone carved with a seated figure of Buddha with worshippers. All the heads are broken off. The Buddha is wearing a dhoti and tightly pleated cloak which is slung several times around the left shoulder. There are six worshippers some only visible in outline. Two kneeling figures in the foreground may represent as Indra (right) and Brahma (Left) before Buddha's Enlightenment.

Analysed and found to be chlorite schist, related to talcose schist
