Object history | The portrait of a lady in European (Elizabethan) costume, often erroneously identified as Lady Shirley, wife of the celebrated ambassador of James I. Adapted from a western painting by a Mughal artist. Probably Awadh, late 18th century.;; Bought from Mr Arthur Churchill, with other paintings (IM.7 to 16-1913) for £141.
