Object history
From Miller (1999), p. 206.
Nagler, Mon I, 2242 associated this monogram with Polidoro da Caravaggio (1499?-1543?) and his followers. No preparatory drawings by Polidoro survive for this set, and the attribution of this set to Polidoro is rejected in the Berlin catalogue. The set of eighty plates in Berlin was among those prints in that collection destroyed during the Second World War. Seventy-six out of the set of eighty plates are in the British Museum, Department of Prints and Drawings, Sloane 2.A.A*.a.72.1-76. The plates absent from that collection are numbers 73-6. For illustrations of examples of this type of Renaissance glass, see Heikamp.
