Physical description

Three-quarter-length, seated, facing and looking to left. The sitter is holding a pen in his left hand, resting his left arm on a table and his left hand is placed on his thigh. On the table is an anatomical work which lies open. In the right background is a book and a jar containing anatomical specimens. At the bottom of the sheet is a coat of arms.
