Physical description

Three-quarter-length portrait, seated in a chair, turned slightly to left and looking to front. The sitter is holding a paper in his right hand and resting his left hand on a cushion. In the foreground, on a table, is a ceremonial mace and ink stand. The sitter is wearing the sash and star of the Order of the Garter.
