Physical description

Large flangeless stoneware dish of oval form, covered in a white glaze. Reduction fired. Painted with a white sketchily-drawn plant and flower form, and a flying insect, all in black.

Descriptive line

Large white oval stoneware dish painted with an insect and a plant, designed by Tavs Jorgensen and Roger Law, made at Dartington Pottery, England, 2001.

Production Note

According to Stephen Course, the managing director of Dartington Pottery, the decoration of the dish is based on drawings made by Roger Law when he went to Australia on a trip sponsored by the Sunday Telegraph, and so has aboriginal influences.
