Object history
This design relates to a dress in the Textiles and Dress Collection (T.403-2001). The dress was worn by Anne Stephen at her wedding to Mr Allan Berkeley Valentine Hughes on 24th April, 1964.
Historical context
Belinda Bellville was a significant designer who established her own business in 1953. In 1958 she went into partnership with David Sassoon and the company name was changed to Bellville Sassoon. They specialised in romantic wedding and evening dresses.
