Manuscript
1862 (made)
Place of origin |
Architect's plan with white & black outlines and text on a black ground.
Title: Plan of a royal enclosure to be built at the foot of Mandalay hill.
Contents: The plan shows the North corner of the wall and moat round Mandalay palace, the South tip of Mandalay hill, several neighbouring pagodas and other enclosures, and the proposed new enclosure.
The reverse side has two passages of text. One, mostly too blurred to be legible, might have been a rough draft of the other. The legible passage records a meeting of several ministers with the king [Mindon] on the 11th day of the waxing moon of Nadaw [December], 1224 B (1862AD), and the king's order for the procurement of timber and carpenters for the construction of the new enclosure.
