Glass, Room 131

Goblet

1680 - 1685 (made)
Place of origin

Colourless lead-glass goblet/ wine glass, with knop enclosing an air bubble. Conical, slightly convex bowl, and hollow convex conical stem - short. English, probably made in London about 1685. The thinness of the bowl and stem indicate that this is an example of the lightweight 'single flint' glass which was cheaper than the 'double flint'.
