Horoscope - "zada" formed of folded palm-leaf, inscribed on both of the outer sides with a metal stylus. The folds are tightly stitched together at each end, to form a flat plaque. Oblong with shaped ends. On one side is the diagram &c. and on the other is the interpretation in Burmese characters. (still to be translated)

Descriptive line

A Burmese zada (horoscope) from the Royal Palace Mandalay, Konbaung Dynasty (1752-1885). Inscribed, stitched and folded palm leaf. Burmese characters. ca. 1880

Production Note

This zada (horoscope) is claimed to have been found in the chief Queen's (Supayalat?) apartments in the Royal Palce Mandalay when taken by the British in 1885.
