Shiva is represented in a benign aspect, holding his characteristic attributes, the antelope in his rear left hand, the axe in his rear right hand: his front right hand is in the protection hand pose (abhaya mudra) and the left in charity (varada mudra). He wears in his matted hair the crescent moon (symbolizing his power of creation and destruction) seen on his left side with earrings (kundalas), finger and toe rings and a loin cloth of tiger skin. The pierced base indicates that this was a processional image.
