Physical description

Headdress to fit to the back of the head consisting of two white satin bands and, to front, a clear blue satin band, overlaid with finest net covered with sprays of white heather and tiny amber beads.

Object history note

The headdress was reputedly worn by the Romantic ballerina Fanny Cerrito (1817-1909).
It possibly originally formed part of the London Archives of the Dance; the Archives never achieved an independent home; part of the collection was stored with Cyril Beaumont, where it became inextricably mixed with his own collection and came to the Museum as part of the Cyril Beaumont Bequest.
