Krishna as a child lying on his back on a banyan leaf, (Krishna Vatapatrashayin) depicted in the act of bringing his left foot up to his mouth, about to suck a toe. This image of Krishna as a baby lying on his back sucking toe while floating on a bayan leaf symbolizes the god reposing on an ocean of chaos following the destruction of the end of a cosmoic period. He is naked except for jewellery and a girdle which leaves the genitals exposed. The image is mounted on a modern base of wood and bloodstone.

Object history
Given to the museum in 1930 by E.L.Cappel, Esq. C.I.E., who was a judge of the Belgaum district in the extreme south of the Bombay Presidency.
