Content description
Portrait of a man, three-quarter length, looking upwards, seated a table, on which rests his left elbow, his hand to chin; the right hand, in which he holds a pen, is placed over the arm of the chair. On the table are is a bell jar and two volumes lettered 'Natural History of Insects' and 'Natural History of Vegetables'; another bolume is open with an illustration of the human skeleton.
