The door guardian (dvarapala) is complete from the hip upwards. The right hand is raised in a gesture of protection (abhaya mudra); the left hand rests on the hip. Wearing a coronet of the conventional karanda-makuta type; makara-kundala ear pendants; a broad torque; waistband; sacred cord tied with a bow; spiral armlets and bracelets. The back is left rough and the depth of relief cutting does not exceed 10cms.
