One of a range of designs for industrially-made ceramics and glass by contemporary painters and other artists, an experiment aimed at improving British industrial design conceived as a result of the Gorell report into the subject, 1933. All the glassware was made by Stuart & Sons. The ceramics and glassware made for the experiment under the direction of T.A.Fennemore of Brain & Co. were shown first at Harrods in 1934 and then more fully at the exhibition 'British Art in Industry', Royal Academy, London, 1935
