The heads of two horned cattle, side-by-side. The animal on the left is viewed almost in profile, facing to the right of the image, with its head slightly turned and a rope bound around the top of its head. The animal on the right, faces to the left of the image but has its head turned to the viewer. Around its neck it wears a collar with a large tag on it which is signed 'J. Kobell 1801'. Part of a watermark is visible in the paper, between the two cows, showing half of an ovoid motif, with the letters 'G R' below it.

Production
The print is signed 'J. Kobell' (although it does also appear to read as 'Kobelt'). It is most probably Jan Kobell (II) as he specialised in paintings of cattle and other livestock in the style of Paulus Potter.
