A lady in a white evening dress sits on a pink fringed stool, with her back facing the viewer and her head turned slightly to show part of her profile. The evening dress has short sleeves and clover details sewn along the bottom hem, leaf applique across the back and onto the sleeves. She is wearing a feathered headpiece, which is coloured as though made of metal and pearls. Next to the woman is an elaborate candlestick with lion's paw feet, gilt ornament and topped by a cherub holding an oriental style lamp.
