Marks and inscriptions | Signed 'H. Hackel Fabric Cilli' and inscripted 'Dir O Vater' (Signature and decoration) |
Gallery label | H. Hackel (Hackl) is of Bohemian origin, from Meisterdorf, but worked in Cilli (Zilli, now Celje), in Styria (now Slovenia). The decoration on this glass includes an inscription 'Dir O Vater', the arms of the Auersperg family and shields bearing initials of the three sons. Hackel's glasses were probably made for presentation, bearing either religious or domestic scenes. |
Production | Olga Drahotova says that this is a very fine example of H. Hackel's work |
