Object history
Pugin's diary for 1838 records that he visited Zurich between 21 and 23 August during his long continental tour of that year whene he sailed down the Rhine, travelled through Switzerland and returned via France. His Swiss sketches were mounted in a leatherbound volume, which is now in the museum collection (L.5200-1969). This drawing has been cut out from that volume.
