Object history
This costume design by Alix Stone is part of an extensive collection of designs purchased by the Theatre Museum directly from the artist in 1994. The design was executed for a production of William Shakespeare's play "The Taming of the Shrew", performed by the Old Vic Company at the New Theatre, August 26th 1947. The production was directed by John Burrell; the sets were designed by Kathleen Ankers; the costumes were designed by Audrey Cruddas; and the lighting was by John Sullivan. Alix Stone designed the costumes for the Prologue.
