Object history
This costume design by Alix Stone is part of an extensive collection of designs purchased by the Theatre Museum directly from the artist in 1994. The design was executed for a production of George Bernard Shaw's play "Saint Joan", performed by the Old Vic Company at the New Theatre, December 3rd 1947. The production was directed by John Burrell; and the sets were designed by Michael Warre. The cast included Celia Johnson as Joan.
