Projected costume design for Richard Howard as Tybalt. The design depicts a three quarter length male figure wearing a "renaissance" style costume. The costume consists of a heavily patterned brown jacket with short sleeves worn over a high necked prussian blue tunic. The left sleeve of the tunic is decorated with a gold embroidered coat of arms. The figure also wears a codpiece & a pair of grey tights; a pair of black gauntlets; and a sword worn on a belt around the waist.

Object history
This costume design by Alix Stone is part of an extensive collection of designs purchased by the Theatre Museum directly from the artist in 1994. The design was executed for a production of William Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet", performed at the Young Vic Theatre, February 23rd 1977. The production was directed by Denise Coffey; lit by Mike Alvey and Jenny Cane; and the fight scenes were arranged by Derek Ware. The production starred Simon Chandler and Natasha Pyne as Romeo and Juliet.
