Costume design for Three Yamadori Attendants in "Madam Butterfly". The design depicts one full length male figure and two full length male children wearing "Japanese" style costumes. The adult figure wears a short brown kimono over a long red and white striped kimono, with black obi. The two children wear light brown kimonos with yellow obis. All three figures wear white sandals. The lower mount has been extensively annotated in pencil. 2 Fabric swatches are attached to the lower part of the mount.

Object history
This costume design by Alix Stone is part of an extensive collection of designs purchased by the Theatre Museum directly from the artist in 1994. The design was executed for a revision of a 1964 production of Puccini's opera "Madam Butterfly" by the Sadler's Wells Opera at the London Coliseum, November 4th 1971. The original production was directed by Colin Graham; and lit by Charles Bristow. The production was later revived at the London Coliseum in September 1972.
