Gallery 100: A History of Photography: Series and Sequences, 6 February 2015 – 1 November 2015. The late 19th century saw a flourishing of amateur photographers and photographic societies. Jones was an amateur photographer and a professional gardener. He made studies of fruit and vegetables, and images of the private estates where he worked. His photographs of pears against a neutral background capture each specimen’s individuality and were made primarily for his own investigation. (03/02/2015)
