Full-length portrait, standing, facing slightly right, leaning against a plinth, wearing a sash and sword, and standing against an architectural background with allegorical figures. The sitter rests his right arm on the plinth and holds a roll of paper in his hand. At the base of the plinth lies a sword and the staff of Mercury, with two snakes entwined around it. In the right background are two senators and the figure of a bearded man - Diogenes (?) - with a dog, lantern and staff.
