Design

1960s (designed)
Artist/Maker
Place of origin

Design for ladies evening dress by Oleg Cassini, 1960s. The sketch was made using a photocopy with black felt tip pen on paper. This is a long sleeveless evening dress cut in four panels with straight high neck line, and the skirt is finished with three flounces that enrich the hem of the dress. The model holds a long stole also trimmed with a similarly flounced bottom. The dress appears to be made of stiff material because of the way it falls in the design. This is a typical design for an evening dress in this decade as many were made of velvet, satin, and other non-transparent material. The designer's signature in fibre tipped pen is visible on the centre right.
