Object history | Fashion note: This is an attractive drawing, fully coloured and worked. The combination of richly textured black lace opening in front to reveal a pale blue underskirt, high necked pale blue blouse with bands of lilac accenting the choker collar, and vivid blue waistband with a blue flower at the waist is a very typical design for Jeanne Paquin, showing her appreciation of fabric, colour, and subtle, understated detail to create a very graceful, elegant afternoon dress showing unusual but unobtrusive use of colour and appreciation of femininity. - Daniel Milford-Cottam, February 2012 |
