Physical description

'Escamillo' and a modified version of 'Newski'. Black and white lace and tulle evening bodice (Escamillo) with pink and white roses, and bodice to a day dress (Newski modifié) in blue and white stripes with brown mink fur accents at the shoulder. One of a group of 85 fashion designs bound in a volume of Paquin designs for Winter 1897. Most in pen and ink with touches of watercolour, some with names, details, and fabric swatches attached.

Marks and inscriptions

robe de bal en tulle w/ satin et corsage brodé d'un tuillere de freis avec gros motifs bouillonnes tulle of roses jaune et rose motifs en juis en le jupe.
Inscribed above the sketch for the evening dress in semi-legible writing. It indicates that the evening dress is of tulle and satin, embroidered with a trellis design and trimmed with large rose motifs.
