Object history
This picture was bought by J.J. Brown from the Little Gallery, London in 1915. At some stage later the artist tried unsuccesfully to buy it back from Mrs Hunter, J.J. Brown's daughter, in order to bequeath it to the V&A. The present donor honoured this wish.
