Object history
The print probably formed part of the London Archives of the Dance; the Archives never achieved an independent home and part of the collection was stored with Cyril Beaumont, where it became inextricably mixed with his own collection, and came to the Theatre Museum as part of the Cyril Beaumont Bequest.

Historical significance: An image of a dancer dating from the 1890s, showing the development of the ballet skirt at that period. Although the tutu was developed to show the technical feats of the classical dancer, this dancer wears heeled shoes, indicating that she was not, primarily, a classical ballet dancer.
