Sesame Street playset, Illco Toys, China, 1985-90

Moulded yellow plastic house shape with turquoise plastic roof and integrated carrying handle at the top. Contains a range of small plastic toys and four Sesame Street figures.

Detailed description of parts:
The building represents a nursery. It has a red base, yellow walls, turquoise sloping roof with handle at centre top, pale yellow window frames and door. It opens and is hinged down one side and clips together down the other. One of the long sides has the door with a balcony above. Inside are four rooms decorated with card printed in colours to show scenery, curtains and wallpaper. The floors are of moulded red plastic designed to show wood slats, the lower left room has a printed paper sheet stuck down to represent bathroom floor tiles.

There are a number of accessories: a pink plastic cot with yellow wheels; a high chair, green plastic with yellow tray; a rocking horse with round seat, pink plastic, screwed together; a playground slide and seesaw; a bath, blue plastic with yellow base and feet; a pram, pink plastic body, blue hood and yellow handle and wheels.

There are four figures: Ernie, orange moulded plastic painted light green, yellow, pink, red, black and white; Bert, yellow plastic painted orange, green, black and white; Big Bird, yellow plastic, painted blue, orange, pink, black and white; Cookie Monster, yellow plastic, painted blue, mauve, tan, black and white.

Reason For Production: retail

This portable playset house was made to accompany the Jim Henson Sesame Street television series. It contains baby versions of the Muppet characters Bert, Ernie, Big Bird and the Cookie Monster along with play and nursery equipment to encourage imaginary play with the characters.
