Object history
Egypt was conquered by the Ottoman Empire in 1517, following the Ottoman–Mamluk War (1516–1517). It was then administrated as an eyalet, or province, of the Ottoman Empire from 1517 until 1867, with a brief interruption during the French occupation of 1798 to 1801, hence the title of this book 'Remarks on Several Parts of Turkey' with the plates depicting locations in Egypt.
