Object history
The engraving shows the Atrium in the ballet Cesare in Egitto, choreographed by G. Gioja, designed by Sanquirico and Perego, given at La Scala, Milan in 1815
The print came to the Museum as part of the Cyril Beaumont Bequest.

Historical significance: An example of early 19th century scene design, in the realistic, pictorial tradition by one of the leading Italian scene designers of the period.
