Lithograph, tinted with one tint stone, with additional colouring by hand, depicting a view in Constantinople. Volume of plates (28) including frontispiece and title page. Quarter bound in green morocco. Most plates signed variously J.F.L. or signed and dated J.F L. 1837 or J.F.Lewis.1837. Each plate inscribed with title. The title page states that Lewis's Illustrations were 'made during a Residence in that City &c. in the Years 1835-6', but also that they were 'Arranged and Drawn on Stone from the original Sketches of Coke Smyth by John F. Lewis.' At the time, Lewis himself had not travelled to Constantinople.
