Marks and inscriptions
Inscribed 'I Jacobs Bristol' (gilt) (makers's mark)
Gallery label
Signed 'I Jacobs Bristol' in gold and decorated with a key pattern. There seem to be no black bottles with this seal. A globular bottle glass tankard excavated in Bedfordshire and now at the Fitzwilliam Museum seems similar enough to suggest a South Eastern bottle house for these mugs.
Credit line
Given by Mr. J. L. Brodie
Production
Made by Issac Jacobs and probably gilded in his factory, the Non-Such Flint Glass Manufactory, Bristol.
