An interest in uniting art and technology led Micha Riss to being working with 3D stereo-optic painting and photography in 1983. One year later, at the New York Institute of Technology, Riss was introduced to computer-generated art and graphics and has been using the computer as her primary artistic tool since this point. She states "the experience of using computers allowed me the freedom to experiment with color [sic], texture, transparency, layering and animation." The figurative subject matter in these slides is typical of Riss's work. She has written that her interest lies in "observ[ing] the constraints of technology and society on human life". Physical description

White and black plastic stereo slide viewer with two 35mm slides fixed in the holder. The slides present a 3D image that simulates a view through a hand-drawn television screen onto another television set. In the bottom right hand corner is a human figure with raised arms. From his left hand stretches a red line which leads to the tail of a small aeroplane or glider in flight. From his right hand stretches a blue line which leads to the tale of another, more modern, aeroplane, and a yellow line which leads to a third aeroplane. On the television screen is a series of hand drawn coloured marks and a colourful drawing of a figure. A yellow line links this figure to another, metallic-looking figure suspended in mid-air.
