Michael Kenna (b. 1953 Widnes, Lancashire, England) is an established British photographer whose work has been exhibited internationally for over two decades. His work has been featured in over 20 books, and his prints provide an exemplar for amateur and professional photographers working in black and white. Kenna’s photographs are highly refined, atmospheric images of landscapes and cities. Some reach a high level of abstraction, transforming natural elements and man-made structures into poignant arrangements of light and shade. His work embodies many of the values of classic black and white art photographs.
