Headdress (dianzi) for a Manchu lady. With black lattice work foundation in silk-covered wire and folded strips of satin. It has a curved front and flat crown to which are attached openwork bands and medallions of gilt metal overlaid with kingfishers feathers, and enriched with emerald green jadeite, amethyst, amber and other stones, coral and artificial pearls. Small portions are executed in filigree work. The bands and medallions are in the form of bats, peaches and flowers projected from a leafy background by means of wire. There are two black crepe ribbons for tying.
Featherwork broken away and loose. Some stones missing.
