Place of origin

Dish with rounded sides and shallow foot; base glazed; brown rim. Decorated with a scene derived from an original design by J.G. Höroldt of the Meissen factory. The main decoration comprised of a central 'quatrefoil' panel in which Höroldt chinoiserie figures wearing long robes are seated at a table in conversation over tea. Behind is a vase containing coral, to the left a flowering plant; above are birds and insects. Framing the panel are an inner gilt border of scrollwork with interlacement at the corners partly heightened in brown, and an outer border of feathery scrolls in red. A deep border of laub-und bandelwerk in brown circles the rim.
