Physical description

Dish (one of a pair), with rising sides and flat spreading rim; low footrim. Painted in the centre entirely in enamels and gilt is a design of mandarin ducks swimming among lotus plants with a narrow ruyi head border; round the well are cartouches with fish reserved on an underglaze blue ground with gilt "cracked ice" pattern; and on the rim are lotus plants and ducks. Three floral sprays are painted round the outside below a border with fish in cartouches on a diapered ground.
