Embroidered panel from a temple or monastery banner or hanging. Buff coloured satin embroidered in coloured silks in long and short, stem and satin stitches with some couched work. With a clean-shaven bald-headed figure with a smiling face standing on a rocky ledge. He wears a blue robe lined with white and pale green and tied with a red, buff and blue-green girdle. The folds of his robe are outlined in black. His shoes are black and white. His right arm is raised and he points upwards with the first finger from which rises a cloud works in blues, pink and white. From the cloud is issuing a pagoda-temple worked in the same colours. Landscape background of rocks, cloud, bamboo and other plants.
