Vase in meiping form, painted in underglaze blue and with a bright lemon yellow ground. The decoration is divided into three panels: round the shoulder two phoenix among scrolling peony, bordered by two bands of classic scroll, round the body another register of scrolling peony with below a band of squared spiral, and above the foot rising petal panels. The shape, decoration and colour scheme are after an early Ming style.
